Pain

I live in pain. I have been in some much pain for so long That I don't know what it means to be pain free. I have learned to rise above the pain and get used to it as it were. I can never let my self relax enough becuse if i do I am so much pain that all i can do is cry.

I have also learned that if i have to do anything that is going to hurt IE shovel the snow, mow the lawn, help move people that if i listen to an audio book that I can get Through it easier. were I try and do the same thing with out listening to something I am in so much pain that I can't move after a little time.

I hurt my back a couple of weeks ago and now go to PT to help. every time i go i have to say how much pain i am in of that stupid 1-10 scale thing. In my mind 0 means normal. I see it like this because for most people no pain is normal. and because it's made to represent the average person i have made that change in my head. so now need to figure what "number" my normal pain is so that i can figure out what my current "number" is.

i do my best not to let pain get in my way to much. today is a good example some how driving in to work i aggravated my back again. i can hardly move and it hurts even to think about it. but i am here and will be here until 5pm tonight. when i do move wrong i must admit that i get tears in my eye's. but i know that i will get used to it and be able to move on. that is until PT tonight. but that is then and this is know, and the pain just lets me know that i am still alive.

oh i have started using a program called Zoundry Raven to post blogs. I must say of the ten or so i tried, it is by far the best i found. it links to your blog site as well as a image site like image shack,google's Picasa Web Albums, or what ever you use. you can also install it on a thumb drive so that you can use it on any computer with out having to install it on that computer. i have it so that i can blog at home or at work. give it a try.

Mac Users

Why are Mac users so delusional?

i mean really i had a guy come in to the office today asking when the national site was going to have support for mac? when i told him that i have no idea what national is or does with there site. and i was surprised that he was not able to use the site. Now you have to understand that my company is a non profit and as such does not have the resources to invest in the best web software. my guess is they use a version of have that mac does not support. he did not seem to understand so i told him that i was not sure if they would any time soon. they have not up to this point and i don't see them changing in the near future. then he told me that he's sure that they have have a lot of complaints about this problem. i then informed him that again i don't know but that as mac is such a small part of the market i was not sure if they would be working on it or not.

Now if you know a mac user these are fighting words. his response was that mac's were not a small part of the market and he knows because when he on an airplane all he sees are mac's. i then told him that may be so how ever mac still make up a bout 10% of the over the total market place.

granted it's a little higher in the us but still its not a large amount.

Now as long as i can remember i have heard about the great and Glorious mac. how its so much better. it never crashes, and there are no viruses or hacks for it. how pretty it looks. and all that kinda of stuff.

1. lets look at never crashes this is false it crashes it crashes about as much as windows. but mac users don't know that they think that because people talk about crashes on a PC that it means it does it more. but when there are times the amount of users your going to hear about it more. now if we accept that mac crash less then why could that be? hmm maybe it has something to do with the fact that every little thing that is made for the mac has to be approved by apple. so yeah if you have to meet all of there requirements it is going to work better. but this is also why there is allot less software made for it.

2. Viruses why are there allot less viruses and hacks. however even apple has admitted that there are viruses and hacks for the mac on there website. although when people picked up on it they took it off. just look ate the last hacker convention the mac was hacked. but lets face it there aren't enough users to make it worth while for the the Russian and Chinese to bother.

3. Are mac's pretty? heck yeah lets face it as for looks i have no complaints. they look freaking beautiful. but you can dress up a pig but its still a pig.

The cost of them oh my. talk about expensive you can get a faster more powerful PC for half the price. so gee let me think to i pay more for pretty? or pay less more for power, more storage, more software, more support ? gee let me think.

now there we come to vista. is VISTA as bad as apple would like you to believe? the short answer is no. was it bad when it first came out? yes it was bad, but again not as bad as it was made out to be. but that is the way with Microsoft they never put out a very good product at first it is always the updates and service packs that fix it. which granted sucks. they use the first realize as a beta test. and if you know this you stay away for a bit.

the mac PC commercials are funny. heck i love them. but they are almost completely false in fact in countries were you can't lie about your competitor in commercials they can't eve air most of them.

Microsoft has this reputation as being a monopoly. but have you looked at apple? they dictate every thing from what software you run to what hard ware you can put in it. and if you use something they have not approved guess what. they turn it off. want to by cheap ram? sorry you can't. why? is it because it wont work? nope it will work just fine but apple does not like that so they turn it off you have to by their more expensive ram. kinda like a dictator really either you do things there way or not at all.

it boils do to this with a mac you have to change your way of doing things to fit it. with a PC you change it to fit you needs. I don't Think PC's are prefect or the best. I all I'm saying is that mac users need to get over it and realize that Mac's are not perfect.

and if mac are sooo much better, like we have heard for so long now why are they not more widely used? thats something to think about.

Banning Cell Phones while driving

KSL News is reporting today that that lawmakers are considering banning cell phones while driving. Now I'm all for getting people to pay attention to the road. Living here in Utah where people can't drive to start with. i want them as focused on the road as possible. but lets face it folks people are idiots. wither they have a cell phone to their ear or not. talking on a cell phone does effect people ability to drive, that is with out a doubt. It also seems that, so does putting them behind a wind shield.

now as for texting and emailing while driving if people are stupid enough to do that while driving i say let them them do it. that way in a few years they all be dead from horrible crashes and the rest of us will be safe. i know thats not whats going to happen it will be more like they live and the people they hit die. just like the morons who drink and drive.

This would be awesome just picture it. Salt lake City Jail, small little man walks in to his new cell and sees a big burly mountain of a man sitting on the lower bunk.

Big Bubba: HAAAAaaa no no I was talking on my cell phone while i was driving down the 15 going to my daughter's piano recital.

Rep. Phil Riesen, D-Salt Lake City. is clearly and idiot who does not live in the real world. the fact is you can't take cell phones way from people in a car why? because there are to many people who have them. and just because you make it illegal it's not going to stop people from doing it. (just ask the RI AA. people still download mp3's don't they) people will talk on there phone and when they see a cop they duck there head or put the phone down. but they will still talk on there cell phone, and there is nothing short of banning all cell phones that is going to change that.

"Bad" Words

I have wondered why substituting a word for another makes it OK. Specifically words used to take the place of “Bad” Words. You see my problem is that basically it’s the same thing. The words mean the exact same thing. Now I use these words, but I have not pretense that it means any thing different, they just sound nicer. However it seems that many people don’t think that way. They think that if it’s not the word then it’s not cussing. But what makes a word “bad”? Is it the word, is it the meaning. Or is it the context in which it’s used? So I thought I would look at it. Let’s look with the word Hell. It is perfectly acceptable to say this word when reading the bible or in talking about it in a spiritual context. However if used out side of those purposes then it becomes a “Bad” word. So if you can use the word sometimes but not others it can’t be a “bad” word. Now in both instances the meaning is the same. So it must not be the meaning of the word either. So then it must be the context. And if it’s the context in which it used, then the cute words are in fact “Bad” words as well. Or is it more than that? Maybe it’s the combination of the two that makes a word “Bad”. That would make sense, something being more then the sum of it parts if you would. However that brings me right back to the point the cute words are in fact cussing as the meaning and the context are the same.

But what happens when we change the meaning and the word. I use the phrase “for the love of Bob”. As I’m sure you know there is another phrase that is very close to that. That phrase is definitely more then the sum of its parts, as not one word in it is technically “Bad”. It falls under a more religious stigma. However I think it well serve my purpose for this. Bob is not another word for God. I literally mean Bob, a stuffed bear that I got at Disney world 6 years ago. So I have substituted a different word with a different meaning. Now granted I started to use this phrase as to not take the Lords name in vain. It was just easier to change that one word then it was to come up with a whole new phrase. Now I grant you I could be very wrong about wither that makes it better or not, but it makes sense to me.

Words have power. but only as much as we give them. We as a society have concluded that there are some words that are not acceptable. As a response we have come up with new words to take their place. To me it’s kind of like 6 in one hand and half dozen in the other. Why does changing the word make the intent any better? I just don’t know. I do have my favorites of these words though. I think my favorite has to be Frick. Why is it my favorite you ask? Simple Frick is a family name. My mother was born a Frick (BTW Frick is not the pass phrase for any of my online accounts). So to me it’s funny that our family name has become so common. Now the context of that is not so great but what do I care I’m not a Frick ~

share-a-monies

I dislike fast Sunday’s not because of fasting, like some might think. Oh no it’s the share-a-monies. Those people who get up on the stand and just start talking about random events in there life. Now they might have a real bearing on there testimony and that’s great. But for the love of Bob, people keep it short and simple. I don't care if you cat is 12 years old with a white patch of fur on its right foot. I don't care if your son served a mission in England. The full back story is not important. That information is what a journal is for, use it. And why is more often then not the person with the longest share-a-monies decides to get up and give it 2 min before the end of sacrament meeting? Think about the rest of us with kids. We have been trying our hardest to deal with bored kids who just what to get to primary and be with there friends. But oh no they have to take that time to hold us over and drag the punishment on even longer. I know I should love every one and all that. But all I want to do is scream.
I’m not sure if you remember but a few months back there was a commercial were a guy was giving a boring speech to an auditorium full for school kids. Where one of the kids stands up and says "the end". Would that not be awesome to stand and say amen?

Having said that there are the few the very few that are awesome as one last Sunday was. I would go into it but it would be rather rude.

1. Keep it short.
2. Keep it on topic.
3. Only give the relevant information.
4. For the love of Bob don't go up and start a share-a-moni with a fem mins left.

For those wondering who Bob is. He’s a stuffed bear who sits on a dresser in our room. I find it much easier to not take the lords name in vain if you change it to something else that does not mean the same thing oh there’s my next rant. ;)

Health insurance Companies

How it that study after study has shown it is better to treat on problem that will fix a ton of others as well. This not only improvise the life of the person needing the treatment but cuts the over all cost to the insurance company in the long run. But yet the insurance companies claim that they have to turn down this treatment as they are not cost effective.

Take gastric bypass. An obese person needing gastric by pass generally lot more problems that are in direct relation to that one problem thing such as sleep apnea high blood pressure, diabetes, hart problems, and Bad joints. All very costly problems that need attention and there buy money every year. Were gastric bypass fixes those problems and many many others in virtually all cases?
So as I see it its not that they don’t want/ can’t cover these problems but that in some way they must in fact make money in some way by people having these problems and needing this constant procedures.
But then again most companies are run by complete morons who have no idea of what is best for the company or it s customers.

Now some insurance companies have figured things like this and I congratulate them for a very smart decision. I just wish I had an insurance company with half a brain to figure this out. I know not every one who wants a bypass needs one. But when diet and exercises don’t work what else it there to do? I wish I had the ability to talk to people who make some of these choices and just say what are you thinking? Granted I probably would not be so nice about it.
America is known to be one of the fattest countries in the world. And that is because we have become physically lazy are jobs are not ones that requires us to be active. So many people work in offices and sit all day long. This only increases the problems. Not to mention it seems like every year the “Normal” size cloths get smaller. Remember when a size 16 was normal? Now it what a size 6 or maybe even small? How in the world is a stick normal? Some meat on the human body is a good thing. And for use Rotund people who will never get down to a normal size (a real normal size not the fake fashion normal) in a healthy way is almost impossible. So we continue to struggle every day just to deal with what we have done to our selves.
Its easy to say stop eating so much. But not all at people eat a huge amount. Or gorge them selves at every opportunity. We simply are what we are. And would be glad to change if we had a real fighting chance at it. Remember the next time you so an over weight person don’t just walk by and think to you self so mean remark because you have know idea what they have/ tried to do to lose weight. Well it would seem my soap box is collapsing so I guess I should get down now. Thanks for reading

UTARD Drivers

CAN"T STAND THEM!!!!!!!! Besides that fact that lets face it they have not idea how to drive in the first place. I mean after all were else would it be normal for a person to make a left hand turn from the right hand lane, And no I do mean the right hand side of the left turn lane. No I mean the right lane turning left across 3 yes count them 3 Lanes of forward facing traffic. Oh yeas its true happens to me at least once a week. Then apparently Utards think hey my headlight has 2 settings and the high-beams make it allot easier to see. Let them on all of the time!!!!!!!. Granted it is nice that when I drive home at night I can read a book. But then again I am trying to drive so reading is not really an option at the time. For those of you that don't know to get to my house you have to drive down this one road that is really dark at night. Like the kind of darkness that just sucks up the light from the head lights and yes it is need to drive there with you brights on. But when driving south bound you have to dive in the middle of the road due man hole covers being 6inches above the normal level of the road. And there are several blind turns on a narrow section of the road, were it can get very close especially when the utards drive on the wrong side of the road. lets just say when making a turn were you can't see the road at the best of time only to have the car heading at you in your lane with their brights on makes things just a little bit fun. You know the kind of fun that results in need a change of clothes and a good steam cleaning of the driver’s seat. If you are a Utah driver I ask from the bottom of my hart and for the safety of all those I love. GET THE HELL OFF THE ROAD YOU FREAKING MORON! DO US ALL A FAVORE AND GETT A UTA PASS!!!
